Perkins Grant

The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education grant is grant funding that is awarded from the U.S. Department of Education to the states and then allocated through a formula to eligible recipients (districts, consortia, and colleges) within Colorado based on population and economic need to support Career and Technical Education Programs. Participating grant recipients annually submit a local application and review performance with a goal of continuously improving outcomes for CTE learners. Local recipients are required to make available performance data and provide information about their grant applications, so if you have questions as it pertains to your district or college, please reach out to them directly.

Who Is Eligible?

All Colorado public Local Education Agencies (LEAs) are eligible under conditions explained in the Administrators’ Handbook (ADD LINK).

The funds are awarded to secondary school districts rather than to individual schools. Low population school districts should consider participating with a Perkins consortium which is also explained in this handbook. Additionally, all Colorado public community colleges and Colorado public technical colleges are eligible under conditions explained in the same Administrators’ Handbook.
